Set to the PASSION CHORALE tune (thus readily familiar to congregations), this is a reverent treatment of texts adapted from Final Commendation prayers in the Catholic Order of Christian Funerals. The anthem may be sung by choir and assembly, with or without the organ accompaniment to add color and support. An optional instrument part enhances Bach’s harmonization.
