Worship Resources Editor for Spanish and Bilingual Publications
The Worship Resources Editor for Spanish and Bilingual Publications at GIA Publications plays a key role in shaping high-quality, theologically sound, and pastorally effective worship materials for Spanish-speaking and bilingual (Spanish/English) Roman Catholic communities. This editor is primarily responsible for curating, editing, and developing liturgical text and musical materials for periodical missalettes. As part of GIA’s mission to support vibrant, inclusive worship, this editor contributes to expanding access to materials that inspire full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy for the Hispanic/Latino Catholic community.
General Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in music, liturgy, theology, communications, or other related field, or equivalent experience (2+ years)
Written and spoken fluency in both Spanish and English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe InDesign
Thorough understanding of Roman Catholic terminology and liturgical practice
Deadline-oriented with excellent attention to detail and exceptional time-management and communication skills
The ability to handle and implement feedback and constructive criticism
Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate successfully as a part of a larger editorial and production team
Ability to work with concepts from authors/composers and editors and as part of a team
Primary Responsibilities
Construct manuscripts of liturgical and scriptural texts for Spanish and bilingual worship resources
Provide the initial layout, edit, and proofread to an established style
Select music and prepare and proofread music sections for Spanish and bilingual renewable worship resources
Prepare Spanish/bilingual music planning suggestions for GIA Quarterly planning pages
Coordinate with outside translators and proofreaders as necessary
Acquire and/or choose appropriate artwork for covers of worship resources
Acquire texts, compile, and edit a Spanish-language periodical liturgical planning guide
Compile, translate, prepare, and proofread materials for Spanish-language Children’s Bulletins in collaboration with other editors and outside contractors
Edit, production edit, translate, and/or proofread other books/projects as assigned
Attend Weekly Editorial Team meetings via Zoom
Other editorial duties and projects as assigned
Occasionally staff exhibits and attend conferences related to Hispanic/Latino Catholic interests and organizations

Location: Remote or Hybrid position, with in-person office space located in Bedford Park, Illinois 60638 and Oak Park, IL 60302 Salary range: $50,000-$55,000 annually
