Music Engraver

GIA Publications is seeking an experienced Music Engraver to support large-scale publishing projects. This role requires a high level of accuracy, consistency, and efficiency, with the ability to work within established house styles and production workflows.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in notation software, including Dorico, Sibelius, and/or Finale

• Strong understanding of music theory, notation standards, and engraving practices

• High attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently under deadlines

• Ability to follow and enforce strict house styles and formatting rules

• Experience working across a variety of musical genres and styles

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with prepress and production workflows

• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Pro

• Experience with workflow automation tools such as Keyboard Maestro or scripting

• Degree in Music Theory, Composition, or related field

Responsibilities

• Engrave and refine music notation to professional publishing standards

• Apply house engraving styles consistently across large batches of files

• Manage lyrics, chord symbols, and layout with precise alignment and spacing

• Review and correct files based on editorial and proofing feedback

• Prepare files for downstream layout and production workflows

• Maintain organized file structures and naming conventions

Editorial Administrative Assistant

GIA Publications, Inc. is seeking an Editorial Administrative Assistant to assist in the Sacred Music Editorial department. This position requires organization, flexibility, strong communication skills, and a fine attention to detail. 

Responsibilities:

• Assist with office administrative tasks
• Support day-to-day department operations
• Assist with maintaining and expanding the digital database
• Manage music submissions database and correspondence
• Provide administrative support for our Unbound platform.
• Participate in weekly Editorial meetings.
• Maintain regular communication via web platforms and personal interaction
• Complete other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• General knowledge of music notation, sacred and educational music, and basic musicianship
• Experience with music notation software
• Ability to learn software related to production as needed (Acumen, Adobe In-Design, Graphic Converter, Slack, DocuSign, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite)
• Proficiency in using the Internet and web-related platforms
• Ability to work well with co-workers, composers, and other business contacts 
• Ability to efficiently and effectively multi-task and work independently
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 
• Ability to meet time-critical production deadlines and function well under pressure
• Capacity for great attention to detail
• Capability to adapt to GIA house-style, hymnal style, etc. while maintaining flexibility and taking direction as needed
