This arrangement/adaptation comes from a “Theme and Variations on O Come, All Ye Faithful” (ADESTE FIDELES) by André Fleury, first published by World Library of Sacred Music (later World Library Publications/WLP) in its Consoliere series in 1974, and subsequently by WLP in 1999 in Consoliere Classic, Volume III: Advent and Christmas. In its original version, the fugue is quite a bit longer and decrescendos into a final soft variation. In addition to abridging the fugue, this edition adapts the ending, using Fleury’s own harmonies, to bring the piece to a more festive and rousing conclusion. The Introduction is Fleury’s, exactly as originally published.
