Despite the title of the work, the source of the text remains unknown. The text—in its entirety or even in phrases—seems not to be found in translations of Hildegard of Bingen’s writings. Written in 2000, the piece exhibits many of Proulx’s compositional trademarks: music that highly reflects the text, a fondness for the Lydian mode, and an organ part equal to the choral parts and not simply an accompaniment.
