The Lyric Psalter by Tony Alonso and Marty Haugen is a welcome and beautiful rendering of The Revised Grail Psalms. They clothe the text of the Psalms with melodies that invite you to sing with joy and hope, praise and gratitude, wonder and blessing. What a wonderful contribution they have made to our liturgical celebrations.

It consists of four editions: one for each of the three years of the Lectionary cycle and one for solemnities, feasts and special occasions; psalms for solemnities which occur only on Sundays are found in the year-specific editions. We have attempted to be consistent in our approach. Each psalm contains a two-part refrain, most often melody and a descant, as well as parts for one or two C instruments available in separate editions from the publisher. The primary use for this edition is for piano, organ, guitar and cantor.
