Description:
A unique arrangement that could only come from the genius of Joseph Joubert! This arrangement should feel like a musical evolution: the classical intro in the style of Bach transitions into a storm-like build-up to the Negro Spiritual “I’ve Been in the Storm.” This sets up the old-time version of Charles Tindley’s hymn “The Storm Is Passing Over,” which should still have the feel of a Spiritual, even with intentional gospel elements in the piano and vocal solo parts. Joubert then combines the old-time version with a slight nod to the James Cleveland version of the same hymn, morphing into the more contemporary version of the piece. The accompaniment should be strong and rhythmically solid in supporting the choir and soloist. Dedicated to the memory of Dr. James Abbington and his enormous musical knowledge and depth.
