Description:
The late Richard Proulx edited this three-part “Alleluia-motet,” originally published in composer John Amner’s Sacred Hymns collection in 1615. The original text has been slightly modernized in this edition and all tempo and dynamic suggestions are Proulx’s. Not technically difficult, Amner’s skilled part writing employs overlapping imitative phrases and shows the influence of early-seventeenth-century madrigals.
