Description:
The form displays a fine ability to create instant music for the assembly for these special weeks of Lent. The assembly responses, “Kyrie eleison” and “Christe eleison,” are stated first each time by the cantor, then repeated by choir and assembly. The verses, in three sections, twice progress logically up a minor third while also introducing variation to the responses.
