The well-constructed and graceful melody is stated in the first two verses, first by the women's voices, then by the men. Jim's musical skill shines as he meticulously develops the melodic material and integrates it with David's tender words assuring us that wherever we go in life, God is there with us. Choirs will ove singing the clever vocal canon as well as the musical exchange between the two sections in the last stanza. Sparse and gentle piano writing adds charm as it supports the vocal writing without calling attention to itself.
