Blessed Be God: Acclamations, Hymns and Chants for the OCIA offers 21 inspiring and accessible songs for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). These short acclamations in a variety of forms—including-call-and-response, ostinato refrains, and chants—can be used in a range of celebrations as parishes accompany people on their journey of faith before, during, and after their full initiation into the Catholic Church.
Most of the songs are composed for SAB voicing, though all can be sung unison and unaccompanied. The title song is a joyful acclamation that will become a refrain to which you’ll want to return throughout the year, especially for the dismissal of the catechumens and a baptismal response. Songs like “All of You are One” and “God is Light” are simple enough to be sung in small group gatherings and liturgies, while “Rejoice You Newly Baptized” and “You are God’s Work of Art” will find a home in your Easter Vigil and baptismal liturgies throughout the year.
