Clark, Richard J.
Richard J. Clark is the Director of Music of the Archdiocese of Boston and the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Prior to his appointment in 2018, he served Saint Cecilia Parish in Boston for twenty-eight years. He also has served Boston College and the Jesuit Community as Organist and Cantor at Saint Mary’s Chapel since 2004.
Known for his Communion antiphons (World Library Publications), his liturgical works also appear in the Fifth Edition of the Saint Michael Hymnal (2021) and the Saint Jean de Brébeuf Hymnal (2019). His compositions have been featured at national and local conferences for the American Choral Directors Association, as well as Kodály workshops in the United States, Europe, and Australia. As performer and composer, his eclectic appearances also include St. Patrick’s Cathedral (New York City), Saint-Eustache (Paris), the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Washington DC), the Celebrity Series of Boston, Fenway Park, and the New York Songwriters Circle at NYC’s historic “The Bitter End.”
Richard has served on the Board of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. He lives with his wife and four children in Milton, Massachusetts.
