The Emmanuel College Music Series

The Emmanuel College Music Series is an innovative peer-reviewed publication that seeks to empower composers and arrangers to substantiate their craft in an academic environment. In addition to excellent technique, musicianship, and style, this series emphasizes the pedagogical value of its compositions and their capacity to inspire faith-based and civic communities. Works in this collection are reviewed for artistic merit and theological integrity by established scholars and practitioners.

This series is edited by Lim Swee Hong, Deer Park Associate Professor of Sacred Music and Director of the Master of Sacred Music program at Emmanuel College of Victoria University in the University of Toronto. The review board includes faculty from various universities, including the University of Toronto, and the leadership of GIA Publications.

Emmanuel College is rooted in the ecumenical heritage of the United Church of Canada, shaped by its context in Victoria University and the University of Toronto, and in relationship with Christian, Muslim, Buddhist and other religious communities. Emmanuel College equips leaders and scholars for rigorous theological inquiry and for inclusive practices of justice and care, contextual analysis, creative activity, and interfaith engagement.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • • We require complete music scores, including dynamics and tempo markings.
  • • Music submissions need to be in PDF or Finale file format.
  • • Please do not send originals; a clear copy is all that is required.
  • • The material is written by you. The material has not been simultaneously submitted to other publishers for publication.
  • • Unless indicated otherwise, the material is not currently published or held under copyright. Please provide information of any additional writers or copyright holders.

Submissions by email is preferred and can be sent to [email protected] Submissions sent by regular mail will not be returned.

Although not required, we do appreciate receiving a demo recording of the work, e.g. CD or MP3 (when submitting electronically), of a performance of the work, especially for more complex compositions.
