Janco, Steven R.

Steven Janco is Associate Professor and Director of the Program for Music and Liturgy at Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI, which offers summer and online study leading to the MA in Music and Liturgy, as well as webinars, training series, and professional development opportunities. He also serves on the board of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Musicians Association, Milwaukee’s NPM chapter. Steve was the director of the Rensselaer Program of Church Music and Liturgy at Saint Joseph’s College from 2006 – 2017, and served as  Director of Liturgy and Music in parishes for more than twenty-five years. He has served on the Executive Committee of The Hymn Society, and on the board of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate.

Steve is a well-known composer of liturgical music, including four widely used Mass settings: Mass of the Angels and Saints, Mass of Redemption, Mass of Wisdom, and Misa de Sta. Maria del Lago. He has had articles and reviews published in Pastoral Music, Liturgy, Liturgical Ministry, AIM, Celebration, and GIA Quarterly.

Steve holds master’s degrees in theology and church music and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in liturgy from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He lives in the Silver City neighborhood of Milwaukee.
