Demny, Kathleen

Kathleen’s passion for liturgical music ministry began at the age of 14 and spans over 30 years serving in many capacities of music ministry from pianist/organist, director of choirs of all ages and styles, to full-time Director of Music and Liturgy in and around the Houston area.

Kathleen’s multi-faceted background has developed in her a heartfelt passion for the sung prayer of the liturgy, which is found in her everyday ministry and eclectic approach to liturgical composition.

While serving a parish with very little budget for music, Kathleen began composing for the liturgy out of sheer necessity.  Her music has since been published by WLP and GIA, her articles appear in various liturgical publications, and she has been a workshop presenter locally and nationally.

Kathleen holds a B.M.E. in Piano and Vocal/Choral studies (Baylor University), and an M.M. in Music Theory and Composition (Sam Houston State University). She served as Chapter Director for NPM Galveston-Houston and completed NPM’s rigorous DMMD Certification with a concentration in choral conducting. She also served on NPM’s Council of Chapters. In addition to her piano studio, Kathleen has taught music and choir in both public and private schools, and she directed an annual summer children’s choir camp.

Kathleen lives in Spring, Texas, and enjoys spending as much time as she can with her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren.
