Southwick Cool, Jayne

Jayne Southwick Cool is devoted to composing and arranging music of all types after retiring from the position of Director of Music at Bethel Lutheran Church in Middleburg Heights, Ohio in 2007, where she had served as organist and choir director for fifteen years. She formerly directed bands and choirs in both public and parochial schools, and was a private instructor on French horn for many years. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music, with a major in French horn and a minor in keyboard. Graduate studies include work at Kent State University, The University of Akron, Oberlin College and Baldwin-Wallace College. Her compositions and arrangements include hymns, works for brass, woodwinds, handbells, organ, and mixed and children’s choirs. She is a contributor to Evangelical Lutheran Worship, the worship book of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and fourteen of her hymn arrangements are found in its companion volumes, “Introductions and Alternate Accompaniments for Organ”.
