The F mixolydian scale is required for the entire ensemble in this work. The rhythms in the piece are straightforward.
However, the dance-like syncopations performed in one to the measure at tempo create several rhythmic challenges for the performers.
Standard concert band instrumenta- tion is utilized, with limited divisi parts in flute 1/2, clarinet 1/2, cornet 1, trombone 2, and tuba. Ranges are well within the ability of musicians capable of performing grade 4 literature.
