Tune Name: Ye watchers and ye holy ones, Come thou long expected jesus, Chesterfield, Hark the glad sound, My soul doth magnify the lord, Joy to the world, While shepherds watched their flocks, Songs of the angels, Gloria in excelsis deo
Description:
Christmas affords the opportunity to reflect on the gift of angels and their presence in God's plan for salvation. This inventive cantata tells the story of God's gift through the eyes of the angels, beginning with Old Testament prophecies and moving on the angelic songs heard at ChristÆs birth. Much of the presentation is told through the use of favorite carols, including Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus; Joy to the World; Angels We Have Heard on High; and While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night. There is also melodic and exhilarating new choral music, plus a solo for baritone voice. The inspiring narrative by William Privette unifies the theme of angels through the ages. Duration is approximately 35 minutes.
