Description:
An opening fanfare layers the initial motif and ends in uplifting majesty. The first stanza uses a harmonization by the late Dale Grotenhuis for both choir and organ. In the second stanza, unison voices have a slightly altered melody with short interpolations by the instrumental forces—and a temporary shift in tonality. The final verse is scored for melody and easy descant. The cadential Amen feels natural and welcomed, not tacked on.
