Radio Flyer stems from Gibson’s childhood memories of riding through his neighborhood in a little red wagon. His goal for the piece was to portray the magical experiences of discovery and exploration that children can have in a wagon, on a bike, or simply by exploring on foot. The work is divided into seven scenes, each of which depicts either a real place in Amarillo where Gibson grew up or a vivid memory from his youth.
