Description:
Today’s musicians face unprecedented demands—performance pressures, overloaded schedules, self-criticism, and the noise of modern living—leaving many overwhelmed and disconnected from the music they love.
Mindful Musicianship illuminates the path to a more fulfilling musical life. Drawing from over two decades of research, teaching, and lived experience, author Frank Diaz offers clear guidance for integrating mindfulness into musical performance, practice, and instruction.
Throughout this book, you’ll find:
Written in the same conversational voice Diaz brings to his classrooms and workshops, Mindful Musicianship invites students, teachers, and performers to meet their work—and themselves—with greater honesty, resilience, and joy.
Frank M. Diaz is professor of music education and founding director of the Office of Wellness and Arts Health Initiatives at Indiana University. He has shared mindfulness-based practices with thousands of musicians over the last decade through workshops, courses, and community outreach, and has been meditating since he was a teenager.
