First appearing in a complete Mass setting written for a diocesan choral festival, Richard Hillert’s “Lord Jesus, from Your Wounded Side” has found its way into many hymnals as a suggested song for the rite of sprinkling with baptismal water. The harmonies and instrumental parts can be added gradually upon subsequent repetitions, allowing for music that can be timed to perfectly fit the liturgical action.
Trumpet or oboe parts are optional.
