Description:
A brief choral statement is inserted after each intonation and response of the three parts of the Penitential Act, creating a solemn interplay between cantor (or priest and deacon), assembly and choir. Direct two-part writing infuses a sense of sacred polyphony into the liturgy while remaining assembly minded. Though intended to be sung a cappella, the accompaniment may be included throughout or in the choral portions alone for support.
