Description:
Based on the dramatic events in Springfield, Missouri, Easter, 1906 tells the true story of the lynching of three Black men in the town square on Easter Sunday, 1906. With music by William Averitt and libretto by Robert Bode, this horrific story is just one of thousands from the Civil War through the first decades of the 20th Century. It is intended to be a cautionary reminder of the profound evil that can arise from unchecked racism and mob violence.
Scored for double choir, soloists, spoken narration, piano four-hands, and two percussionists. Duration: approximately 50 minutes.
