...and the antelope play is the winner of the 2007 College Band Directors National Association Young Band Composition Contest and is published by Manhattan Beach Music. It is a tone poem for winds and percussion. The piece is one movement, eight and a half minutes in length.

The range of instruments is normal for a Grade 3 piece. Trumpet 1 goes up to a G5 as well as horn 1. The highest note for piccolo and flutes is an F6, and for trombone 1, it is an F4. Clarinet 1 goes up to a C-sharp 6; tubas go down to an A-flat 1. It is possible for this piece to be performed with only two horns, one on the horn 1–2 part and one on the part for horn 3–4. The parts where the four horns split are doubled in the alto saxophones or clarinets.
