GIA invites all ages, denominations, and levels of experience to join Dr. James Abbington and Dr. Uzee Brown, Jr. for a special informance with hymns, spirituals, and inspirational songs.

Dr. James Abbington
James Abbington is currently Associate Professor of Church Music and Worship at Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and adjunct professor of Church Music at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He was recently reappointed National Director of Music for the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. and has been the Executive Editor of the African American Church Music Series published by GIA Publications for over 20 years.

Uzee Brown, Jr. is a published composer and arranger, having written the musical prologue for Spike Lee’s School Daze. In 1992 he was nominated for the Audelco award in Black theater as outstanding musical director and arranger of the off-Broadway musical play Zion. Dr. Brown is a Professor of Music at Morehouse College, President of the National Association of Negro Musicians and co-founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of Onyx Opera Atlanta.
