Ibrahim, Wassim
Wassim Ibrahim is a native of Damascus, Syria, whose passion for music has driven his concentration in composition, theory, and conducting. Encouraged to continue his academic study in Poland, he earned a PhD at the Penderecki Music Academy of Krakow, where he is now on the faculty of ethnomusicology. Ibrahim’s compositions have been performed throughout Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and in the United States. As founding director of Chór w Kontakcie, a Krakow-based intergenerational choir specializing in global song, Ibrahim and his choir have been honored as Krakow’s Ambassador of Multiculturalism.
