Tirol, Vicente Paulo Kalaw Jr.
Paulo K Tiról is a composer, lyricist and arranger of choral liturgical music and musical theatre, originally from Manila, Philippines and now living in northern New Jersey.
Before moving to the U.S. in 2012, he wrote and recorded songs for numerous studio albums with the group Hangad (the FIlipino word for "desire") under the Jesuit Music Ministry of the Philippines. Today, he is music director for Masses in Jersey City, NJ and New York City, and he has been commissioned to write two Mass settings and other choral pieces. His liturgical music has been published by Oregon Catholic Press since 2019 -- including "Still We Sing Alleluia", which was awarded Song of the Year by the Association of Catholic Publishers in 2021 -- and he is grateful to now be part of the GIA Publications family of composers as well.
Paulo studied at Ateneo de Manila University and Berklee College of Music, and received a full tuition scholarship to pursue his MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. His musical theatre work has been developed and performed off-Broadway in New York City, as well as in upstate New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Minneapolis.
