Losey, Townsend
The Los Angeles based composer and conductor Townsend Losey has served as the Assistant Conductor of the Los Angeles Chamber Choir and the Founding Artistic Director of Ensoma Creative, a highly collaborative choral ensemble with the mission of inspiring creativity and connectedness. Townsend’s impassioned vision for community integration through excellence in music drives him to contribute vigorous psychologically and spiritually charged compositions. Through works for choral and instrumental ensembles, Townsend celebrates the commonalities and complexities of human experience.
Under Townsend’s leadership, Ensoma Creative offered fourteen concerts between 2015-2019, including performances of masterworks, as well as premieres of dozens of original works composed for the ensemble. At the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, Townsend directed eleven virtual choir projects with Ensoma Creative featuring local visual artists, soloists, songwriters, arrangers, and composers. As a relational composer who values meaningful collaboration, Townsend excels at composing with specific ensembles in mind, reflecting their unique heart, vision, and strengths.
