Wondemagegnehu, Tesfa
Tesfa Wondemagegnehu, Conductor of the APM Radio Choir & Manager of the Choral Works Initiative for American Public Media, previously served as Assistant Artistic Director of VocalEssence in Minneapolis, MN. As a high school teacher, he was named Orange County Public School’s Teacher of the Year (2013) and received the Macy’s National Magic of Teaching Award (2013). He led his choirs in performances at state conventions of the American Choral Directors Association (2010 & 2012) and the Florida Music Educators’ Association (2011), and most recently presented a clinic at the American Choral Directors Association National Conference (2015).
Wondemagegnehu is widely in demand as a guest conductor and lecturer. He has presented workshops and conducted honor choirs in Iowa, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, Minnesota, Utah and Costa Rica. As a tenor soloist, he has performed both in the United States and internationally in Germany, Austria, and Hungary, and Costa Rica under the batons of such conducting luminaries as Krzysztof Penderecki, Dale Warland, André Thomas, Anton Armstrong, and Rodney Eichenberger.
Tesfa Yohannes Wondemagegnehu holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from the Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Memphis.
