Since 1963, Salone Theodore Clary, Sr. has been dedicated to providing music for churches. He often serves as both organist and choral director. He is currently the director of the Cathedral Choir at John Wesley AME Zion Church of Washington, D.C. Mr. Clary has served the music departments of the Norfolk, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland Public Schools. He also provided private lessons to university students studying music theory and piano.

Mr. Clary received his B.S. degree in Music Education from Norfolk State University, and his M.S. degree in Music Education with emphasis on performance from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia. His post-graduate studies were at Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

During the late 1970s, Mr. Clary served as the assistant choral director and composition instructor at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Washington, D.C. It was in the early 1980s when Mr. Clary accepted the position as co-band director for Cardoza High School Marching Band. Before retirement (June 2007), Mr. Clary served as the director, piano instructor, and chairman of the music department at Laurel High School.

During Fall 2005, Mr. Clary founded The Salone Clary Chorale. The Chorale's mission is to provide audiences with a musical experience that will be uplifting and longlasting.

Mr. Clary shares his love of music with his wife Carolyn Clary (46 years), four children Salone, Jr., La Vida, Keith, and Andrea and their spouses; and grandchildren, Tamiika Smith, KyMon Clary and Christian Silva; and great-grandchildren, Kevin and Niyla Smith.
