Stevenson, Roxanne
Roxanne Stevenson is Professor of Music, Director of Bands, and Chair of the Department of Music at Chicago State University. Professor Stevenson joined Chicago State University in 1992, where she founded and is Director of the Chicago State University Community Jazz and Concert Bands. She serves as Jazz Coordinator for the HBCU-National Band and Orchestra Directors’ Consortium and a board member of the African American Jazz Caucus. Professor Stevenson is also an in-demand clinician, conductor, and adjudicator for jazz and concert bands, both nationally and internationally. With over forty years of teaching, Professor Stevenson is committed to the recognition and development of gospel and jazz traditions in band literature.
