Hailed by the New York Times as “exuberant,” and a composer of great “clarity, rhythmic precision, and passion,” Robert Vuichard holds a bachelor’s degree in music composition from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Music from the Manhattan School of Music. His principal teachers include Reiko Fueting, Susan Botti, William Bolcom, Betsey Jolas, Michael Daugherty, Michael Colgrass, and Tania León. While studying at the University of Michigan, Robert was a scholarship student at the Aspen Music Festival, the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Composers Program, and the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television Seminar at the University of Southern California.

A native of Rochester, New York, Mr. Vuichard’s music has been performed across North America, Western Europe, and the Middle East, in venues encompassing Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Berliner Dom. Robert has received commissions from Joe Miller and the Westminster Choir, Jerry Blackstone and the University of Michigan Chamber Choir, and Jeff Douma and the Yale University Glee Club.

Robert’s music is currently in publication with both Boosey & Hawkes, as part of the Yale Glee Club New Classics Series [Zephyr Rounds], and GIA’s Westminster Choir College’s Choral Series [The Camera Obscura of Jan van Eyck]. Of a recent Yale Glee Club performance of Zephyr Rounds, the Washington Post remarked that the work’s “treacherously clustered semitones and contrapuntal subtleties became otherworldly, transcendent even.”
