Kennedy, Piers Connor

Piers Connor Kennedy is a Welsh-Irish composer and singer based in Suffolk.

Piers’ music has been performed internationally by ensembles including The Gesualdo Six, Ex Cathedra, and the choirs of Trinity Wall Street and Westminster Abbey. Specializing in vocal and instrumental composition and improvisation, Piers has received commissions from The Three Choirs Festival, the Edington Music Festival, SANSARA, Ensemble Pro Victoria, The Choir of St John’s College Cambridge, The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, Christ Church Cathedral Choir Oxford, the choirs of Worcester, Wells, Truro, and Salisbury Cathedrals, Hugh Cutting, BBC Sounds, BBC Radio 3 and Wigmore Hall.

Recordings of Piers’ music include the triptych Songs by The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge (Hyperion Records, 2025), the Christmas sequence Nowel el el by Ensemble Pro Victoria with harpist Cecily Beer (Delphian Records, 2025), the full album Fresh stone by The Choir of St Peter’s College Oxford (Acclaim Productions, 2025), in the midst by SANSARA with violinist Julian Azkhoul (Platoon, 2024), and the Worcester Canticles (The Choir of St John’s College Cambridge, 2024).

In 2023 Piers completed his DPhil in Composition, supervised by Prof. Martyn Harry, at St Cross College Oxford, where he held the Hélène La Rue Scholarship in Music. Having performed with ensembles including The Tallis Scholars, Tenebrae, SANSARA, Siglo de Oro and Ensemble Pro Victoria, in January 2025 Piers became the 29th member of The Kings Singers, replacing Johnny Howard as the low bass.
