Messick, Pat

Pat Messick was a native of Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery with a bachelor of music degree and obtained the Master of Sacred Music degree from Southern Methodist University, Perkins School of Theology. He was the Director of Music Ministries at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas, a position he has held for over thirty years. He was nationally known as a specialist in youth and childrens choirs and has directed festivals and workshops around the United States. Pat served two terms as president of the Dallas Chapter of Choristers Guild and has chaired the Dallas Chapter Midwinter Workshop. He published numerous articles in the Choristers Guild magazine, THE CHORISTER on vocal techniques and repertoire for children and youth choirs as well as a series of articles on music for childrens choirs based on the Lectionary. Pat is a published composer with over twenty five works in print for children, youth and adults.
