Duncan, Norah IV
Norah Duncan IV is Associate Chair and Associate Professor of Music at Wayne State University. He is the Area Coordinator for Organ Performance. Duncan directs the WSU Concert Chorale and Choral Union and coordinates many of the choral concerts presented by the Department of Music.
A native Detroiter, Norah attended inner-city Catholic schools. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Detroit, a Master of Music from Wayne State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan. Presently, Duncan is the music director of Holy Name Church in Birmingham, Michigan.
As a choral director, Norah has prepared choirs for performances with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphonic Civic Orchestra, the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra, and the Macomb Symphony Orchestra. Under his direction, his choirs have performed at American Choral Directors Association and Michigan Music Educators State Conventions, at Carnegie Hall in New York, and throughout Europe.
As a composer, Duncan’s compositions are published by GIA Publications exclusively. Most recently, his Unity Mass, a setting of the Revised Roman Rite (2010), Three Canticles, Evening Hymn, Christ the Victorious and Holy Name of Jesus Gloria are available from the publisher. Norah is also a member of the Lead Me Guide Me--Second Edition hymnal revision committee and has made many music contributions to it.
