Rev. Nolan Williams, Jr., is an emerging voice of the new millennium. Anointed with the gifts of prophetic ministry and sacred music, his calling is a unique marriage of the two. On one hand, he is a preacher and biblical scholar; on the other hand, he is a composer and musical prodigy.

Empowered through intensive erudition, Rev. Williams has distinguished himself as a graduate of Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (piano performance). He later received his Master of Divinity from Howard University, graduating as a Dean's scholar, third in his class. Moreover, his academic honors have esteemed him as a Benjamin Mays Fellow (Fund for Theological Education), a J.H. Jackson Scholar, a Mordechai Wyatt Johnson Fellow and a Henry Maynard Homiletician.

As an artist, Rev. Williams has traveled extensively, conducting workshops throughout the country as well as performing in Germany, Portugal, Taiwan, and Denmark. Within the music industry, he has worked with Yolanda Adams, Regina Belle, Kim Burrell, Daryl Coley, Margaret Douroux, Walter Hawkins, Donnie McClurkin, Karen Clark-Sheard, Vicki Winans, and others. His music has been recorded by Lamar Campbell & the Spirit of Praise for EMI Gospel, Margaret Douroux & the Heritage Foundation Mass Choir, the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and most recently, Richard Smallwood & Vision on their live recording from Washington, DC. His orchestral arrangements have been performed by the Charlotte Symphony and the Washington Symphony Orchestras, featuring Tramaine Hawkins, the Clark Sisters, Myrna Sommers, and Erykah Badu.

As a scholar, his commentary on the book of Habakkuk was published in 1995 by University Press of America in the collection Many Voices: Multicultural Responses to the Minor Prophets. Since 1993, Rev. Williams has worked intensively as Music Editor of the African American Heritage Hymnal (GIA). This landmark hymnal documents and celebrates the rich tradition of sacred music in the Black Church, and is already being heralded by Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker as perhaps "the most important addition to Protestant hymnody within the last century."

Presently, Rev. Williams serves as the Associate Director of Church Music for the Metropolitan Baptist Church, Washington, DC. He is also proprietor of a publishing house for sacred music, NEW-J Publishing Co. (ASCAP), and founder of a contemporary gospel ensemble, The Psalmists.
