Lesly holds a bachelor's degree in Zoology and a master's degree in Biology, and recently earned her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Beyond her life as a scientist, Lesly is a woman of faith who has served God in various capacities—as a youth group leader, catechist, speaker, and liturgist—and especially through singing and liturgical music. She has worked on developing and presenting training courses for liturgical musicians in collaboration with the Office of Divine Worship of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Currently, Lesly oversees the coordination of the *Cristo Vive* (Christ Lives) praise ministry—founded by her parents in Guatemala in the 1980s—and manages training programs for Charismatic Renewal choirs in the Our Lady of Los Angeles region.
