Webb, LaToya

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Dr. LaToya A. Webb serves as Visiting Professor in Music (Bands) at Ball State University for the 2025-2026 academic year, where she will lead the wind ensemble and teach undergraduate and graduate conducting courses.

Dr. Webb has held varied faculty positions in the United States and in Canada. She holds degrees from Norfolk State University, George Mason University and Auburn University and began her career as band director in Richmond Virginia Public Schools and in Washington, D.C. at Somerset Prep Academy. Dr. Webb continually receives praise for her talent, musicianship, depth, dedication, and expertise in gestural vocabulary, sensitivity of context and interpretation, clarity of phrasing and her ability to bring passion and zeal into her performances.

An internationally sought-after educator and conductor, Dr. Webb maintains an active performance and clinician schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator and lecturer. Currently serves as the Tau Beta Sigma National Vice President for Professional Relations, building relationships within the college band teaching profession and serves on the Composer Project Advisory Board for United Sound, Inc. Dr. Webb is also a member of the conducting faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. As a passionate advocate for improving educational opportunities for all, she enjoys inspiring future leaders and musicians.

Dr. Webb has led professional development sessions for the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, the New York City Department of Education, various school districts, and state, national, and international conferences and events including NAfME, TMEA, GMEA, VMEA, FMEA,OMEA (Ontario), the College Music Society National Conference, the Midwest Clinic. She is co-author of GO ON, Tell Your Story! Voices of Women Band Directors and has published research in the Music Educators Journal, The Recorder, and the Teaching Music Magazine. She was honored as a 2017 College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Mike Moss Diversity Conducting Fellow, a 2018 CBDNA/National Band Association Masterclass Conducting Fellow, a 2019 U.S. Army Band Conducting Fellow, and a 2019 Midwest Clinic Reynolds Conducting Institute Fellow.

Dr. Webb is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the College Band Directors National Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is also honored with membership in Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
