Kevin McGoff is Director of Music at Santa Sophia Catholic Church in Spring Valley, CA, a suburb of San Diego. He earned the BM in Music Education and Voice from the Catholic University of America and the MM in Choral Conducting from the Hart School, Hartford, CT.
As a Franciscan Friar for 21 years McGoff served as Director of Music for his Franciscan Province (Holy Name, New York City) and as pastoral musician in Hartford, CT and Providence, RI.
As an educator, McGoff founded and led the Church Street Singers, a community choral music education and performance program for middle and high school girls in Hartford, CT. In 2005-06 he was interim Director of Choral Activities at the University of Connecticut conducting the University’s six choral ensembles and teaching choral music and conducting.
As a performer, McGoff, a baritone, was a chorister and frequent soloist with the renowned, all-professional CONCORA (Connecticut Choral Artists)for 13 seasons. He has contributed to that organization’s success through the creation of concert programs, program notes, and serving as associate conductor for the CONCORA Summer Workshop and Festival.
McGoff’s involvement in community music enterprises is evidenced by periodic supportive roles with the Hartford Chorale, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Cathedral of St. Joseph, and Opera Providence.
Kevin McGoff is on a leave-of-absence from the Franciscan Order (OFM), pursuing compositional activities and enjoying life in sunny Southern California.
