Robertson, Jalonda
Jalonda Robertson, composer of "Mass for the Body of Christ - Revised Order of Mass 2011," a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, received a Bachelors of Music Degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. Previously a Director of Religious Education for St. Gabriel the Archangel Elementary School, she has been a Music Educator in the New Orleans Public School System for the past 25 years. Having served as SLC Coordinator for the Visual and Performing Arts Small Learning Community, she was also Co-Director of the New Orleans Honor Choir and Webmaster for the New Orleans Public Schools Music Department. Nominated several times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, as well as been twice voted Teacher of the Year, Ms. Robertson is presently the Vocal Music Teacher at Warren Easton Charter High School in New Orleans.
Jalonda has directed choirs at both St. Augustine and St. Leo the Great Catholic Churches in New Orleans, and has served as Director of Music Ministries at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church for the past 29 years. She is a musician for the Archdiocese of New Orleans Mass Gospel Choir and has been a presenter for the Unity Explosion Conference, James P. Lyke Liturgical Conference - for which she composed the 2009, 2010, & 2011 conference theme songs, Johannes Hofinger Catechetical Conference, and the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress.
As a member of the famed Moses Hogan Chorale and Singers, Jalonda has traveled the United States and Europe preserving the integrity and excellence of the multiple aspects of choral music with emphasis focused on the Negro Spiritual. Ms. Roberson is a nationally recognized musician, arranger and composer.
