Cheng, Chung Hon Michael

Chung Hon Michael Cheng (b. 1997) is an award-winning composer and pianist born in Hong Kong and currently based in New York.  His compositions have been performed across the United States and internationally, including before audiences of more than 30,000 and distinguished national and international leaders.  Recent projects include new works for Boston’s Back Bay Chorale and the North Wales International Music Festival; his choral works are regularly performed by choirs in the United States and the United Kingdom, including the Harvard University Choir and the Choir of Worcester College, Oxford.  He is a two-time national winner of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Composition Competition (2012 and 2021) and a two-time runner-up (2011 and 2014), and has also won numerous other national and international awards in composition.  A passionate interpreter of Bach on the piano, he was a Diploma awardee and finalist of the 2022 International J. S. Bach Piano Competition in Saarbrücken, Germany.  He received his degrees from Harvard and MIT.
