Christensen, Casper

Composer, choral leader, and pianist Casper Christensen was born in Denmark and moved to the UK in 2006 to study music in London, where he now resides. Rooted in the English choral tradition, Casper’s compositions combine the simplicity of Scandinavian folk song with his love of American roots music.

Specializing in choral music for upper voices, Casper’s works have been performed widely and have featured multiple times on J.W. Pepper’s Editor’s Choice list, a recognition of their craft and accessibility. His pieces are published internationally and are regularly programmed by choirs in schools, churches, and community settings.

As a conductor and educator, Casper has led touring choirs in Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands, performing in renowned venues such as Église de la Madeleine in Paris, Chiesa di Ognissanti in Florence, Catedral de Santa María in Girona, and Cadogan Hall in London. His experience leading young singers continues to inform his writing, which is characterized by singable lines, imaginative textures, and opportunities for the developing choir to branch into part-singing and harmony.
