Mares, Carlos C.

Carlos C. Mares was born in California in the 1960s. In 1985, Carlos completed a 3-year course in General Music at the Las Rosas Conservatory in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. In 1993, he graduated from CSULA in Los Angeles, CA with a bachelor’s degree in choral conducting. By 2011, Carlos received his master’s degree in conducting from Azusa Pacific University. He worked as music director in several Catholic parishes of Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino. He also worked as an instrumental music teacher for 26 years with the Pomona Unified District. He is the current music director of the Youth Music Program and the Pomona Pops Orchestra with the City of Pomona, in California. He has arranged several Latin American folk pieces for voice and orchestra which you can find on his YouTube channel. He has also published a few songs for Catholic worship with Oregon Catholic Press. Carlos is in the process of publishing 2 new piano and choir arrangements with GIA.
