Carla J. Giomo is a composer, author, and teacher who resides in Glendale, Arizona. She received her B.M and M.A. in Music - Piano Performance, from the University of Denver and her Ph.D. in music education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has taught at the University of Colorado at Denver, at the University of Denver, at Mesa (Arizona) Community College, and at Glendale Community College. She also taught piano and organ privately and, for a while, maintained a studio of thirty students a week. She currently is a general music specialist and children's choir conductor at a Title I school in West Phoenix
Dr. Giomo's first CD, in which she accompanies on the piano, features her choral music for Holy Week, a setting of Vespers, and a choral benediction entitled "A Blessing." It is offered by GIA Publications, Inc. Her Easter setting for brass and organ, "An Easter Fanfare," is also offered by GIA. Dr. Giomo also has a choral work composed in response to the events of 9/11 entitled "A Prayer for Peace." It is available through Yelton Rhodes Music.
Dr. Giomo has received commissions, most of which resulted in published and/or recorded works. Among the commissioning groups are the Red Mountain Brass, based in Phoenix, and Canto Spiritusm a professional choral group based in Denver.
