Owen, Ben
Ben Owen is a Cincinnati-based composer, choral conductor, and pianist recognized for his collaborative leadership, creative programming, and engaging compositional style. He currently serves as Director of Music Ministries at Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church and as Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Camerata. Previously, he conducted the Eastern Iowa-based ensemble Canticum Novum and held teaching and conducting roles in various academic and church settings in the region. Ben holds a Bachelor of Music in Choral/General Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, where he was a teaching assistant to Dr. Timothy Stalter and Dr. David Puderbaugh. His compositional work—primarily for choirs, solo voice, and piano—has been described as fresh, compelling, and emotionally resonant.
