Oehlerking, Darrin

Dr. Darrin Oehlerking currently serves as Associate Dean of Student Affairs for the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan and is a Professor of Music in the USask School for the Arts. His teaching assignments have included conducting the USask Wind Orchestra and leading undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting, music education and wind literature. He previously served as Director of Bands and Jazz at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN, and as Music Coordinator for the Louis Riel School Division in Winnipeg, MB. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Iowa, as well as his Master of Music, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Oehlerking previously served as President of the Canadian Band Association, and he is a True North Master Educator with Yamaha Music Canada. He is in demand as a guest conductor and festival adjudicator, having conducted prestigious ensembles such as the Central Band of the Royal Air Force (Northolt, UK) and the 2022 National Youth Band of Canada. He has also led conference presentations and workshops across Canada as well as in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
