Description:
As part of the First Steps in Music revision, Jill Trinka, in collaboration with John M. Feierabend, recorded several of the songs added to the curriculum book. Specifically, she recorded songs that appear in the revised sample lesson plans at the end of the book. These songs are Kahuli Aku, San Serení, Three Little Ducks, Aserrín, and My Name Is Michael. (Note: One verse was removed from the original recording of Old Joe Clark, so the revised track for this song has been included here as well.)
Additionally, a number of other songs that do not appear in the sample lessons plans were added to the curriculum book. These include Don Gato, Las Estatuas de Marfil, Que Pase el Rey, Ambos a Dos, Al Citron, and Uncle Jessie. The recordings for Don Gato and Las Estatuas de Marfil, available for purchase below, come from the GIA resource El Patio de Mi Casa (CD-802), a collection of traditional Mexican folk songs and rhymes by Gabriela Montoya-Stier.
For the remaining songs that were not recorded as part of the revision, we are including links to online recordings. Although the versions supplied here are not identical to the notation in the curriculum book, they are helpful reference points for understanding appropriate style and/or pronunciation.
